Other information
I am an African male born in the family of five children of which consists of two sisters, two brothers and myself. I live at Ntuzuma Township in Kwa-Mashu in the north of Durban in South Africa. I grew up living in the informal settlement at Amaoti – Inanda and also in the rural area at Kwa Maphumulo at Kwa Dukuza and at Mdeni location – Magadla district at Matatiele.

I have been involved in community political struggles against all forms of oppression since my secondary schooling days. After I could not able to further my studies then due to financial constrains, I joined the so called working class as the worker where I participated in the struggles for the advancement of workers rights in the workplace in particular for Black workers and became a Shop Steward and eventually I became the Azanian Workers Union - AZAWU organise after we were retrenched for embarking on the prolonged go-slow - industrial action. After serving in AZAWU for five (5) years period I joined Media Workers Association of South Africa – MWASA as the Regional Organiser where I served for a period of 12 years.

I have been involved in research programme that was conducted by the University of KwaZulu- Natal – RASSP during 2003 to 2004 of which ended in report volume 1 number 1 under the auspices of the Workers Research Unit. I also conducted research regarding the working
conditions and the second hand clothes in Mozambique, Malawi, Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda. In addition, I also worked in research projects that were guided by the University of Witwatersrand – Sociology of Work Unit. The following research reports contain reports from the projects I have conducted :-Action Research on Workplace Change a joint publication by the Workers College and Ditsela – 2003 (Reports on Changes in employment patterns at the port of Durban; joint projects with other researchers:- Difficult times for workers at Sapekoe tea estate in KZN; Workers concerns at South African Sugar Association; Workers not so sweet on casualisation at Beacon in Durban and Workers Compromised as Durban Transport privatises) Lastly, I much more interested in programmes that are geared for the total destruction of capitalism as the economic system; the
decolonisation of the so called Africa from all forms of oppression and deproletariasation removing of means and ways that compel the Black majority to sell their labour power for their livelihoods) of the majority of the working populace. Currently, I’m the Masters student in
Sociology.
