Other information
I am currently a Master's student at the Centre of African Studies at Edinburgh University. Next year I will be commencing a PhD in African Studies in which I will focus on civil society responses to Nepad. This will involve an exploration of the engagement of activist groups across national borders and an assessment of the implications this might have for ideas of pan-African solidarity and an alternative African Renaisance. Whilst I am at CCS I will be focusing on whether or not trade unions and social movements in Durban coordinate their struggles and I will be investigating the reasons behind this. I will also examine the implications this has for the future interaction of these groups and how this might have a bearing on the future direction of their struggles.
