Seminar on Climate Change, 9 November

KZN civil society responses to the Paris Climate Change Conference
Speaker: Delwyn Pillay
Date: Monday 9 November 2015
Time: 3-5pm (note new time)
Venue: CCS Seminar Room 602, 6th Floor, MTB Tower, Howard College, University of KwaZulu-Natal

Topic:
The Paris climate summit will - according to the UN itself - lead to runaway climate change because the Intended National Determined Contributions (i.e. emissions-reductions pledges) will lead to a 2.7 degree increase in temperatures, and far higher in Africa. KZN is already suffering an historic drought and water shortages in rural districts are creating havoc for people, livestock, other animals and eco-systems. This is an informal meet-up to discuss Durban civil society responses to the Paris Climate Change Conference. It will cover the Global Climate March on 29th November and the International Tribunal for the Rights of Nature, 4-5 December. #Durban #ActionsforClimate

Speaker:
Delwyn Pillay is an environmentalist who played a central role in hosting the COP17 People's Space at UKZN and who works with Greenpeace.
