Assassination in Xolobeni: Film screening and memorial meeting, April 6

Durban salutes Sikhosiphi Bazooka Rhadebe

Featuring the Amadiba Crisis Committee and the award-winning film The Shore Break
Date: Wednesday April 6,
Time: 12:30-3:30pm
Venue: UKZN Howard College, Centre for Civil Society Room 602, Memorial Tower Building

Rhadebe, chair of the Amadiba Crisis Committee, was assassinated on 22 March, as the ACC continued opposing a land grab by Australian titanium mining house MRC and its local allies. Durban is anticipated as the culmination point for a controversial Eastern Cape toll road which would allow titanium to be exported against the wishes of the majority of Xolobeni residents. Durban communities, environmentalists and labour will stand in solidarity with the ACC, just as with courageous communities in the vicinity of Hluhluwe-iMfolozi opposing further coal mining.
