Right 2 Know (R2K) Campaign Seminar: Public Interest Information vs Private Information: Jacques Pauw’s ‘The President’s Keepers’ Case

Speaker: Siviwe Mdoda
Date: Thursday 1 February 2018
Time: 12:00-14:00
Venue: CCS Seminar Room A726, Level 7, Shepstone, Howard College, UKZN

Topic:
The theme of this seminar is access to information and specifically public interest information vs private information. The R2K has been invited to be amicus curiae in the court case between South African Revenue Services (SARS) and the author of The President’s Keepers Jacques Pauw. SARS argues
the right to privacy and protection of taxpayers’ information, and Pauw’s lawyers argue for protecting access to information and the public interest. This seminar will discuss the merits of both arguments.

Speaker Bio:
Siviwe Mdoda is a member of R2K National Working Group and a Western Cape Provincial Working Group member. He is a former R2K National Organizer responsible for designing popular education programs.
