This is couched in terms of governance transitions, post-conflict constipations, social crises, failure of democracy or mal-development. Because the vast amount of work on these borrows from Eurocentric assumptions about the state, power, development, and being, it arises that the African predicament is misdiagnosed and mistreated. This seminar argues for a step back in order to listen again to long ignored profound African voices for analyses that are closer to the reality of our times. It proposes that Amilcar Cabral is one of such African radical thinkers worth listening to as we think about South Africa and Africa today and tomorrow. Speaker: Professor Siphamandla Zondi is head of Department of Political Sciences and acting head of the Institute for Strategic and Political Affairs at the University of Pretoria. He works on African Political thought and agency, radical global south agency and international relations.  Back
