CCS & Powerfest! Public Screening of "FALSE PROFITS: SA AND THE GLOBAL ECONOMIC CRISIS"

THE CENTRE FOR CIVIL SOCIETY, UKZN
AND
Powerfest!
Festival of Powerful Ideas
INVITES YOU TO A
FREE, PUBLIC SCREENING OF
"FALSE PROFITS: SA AND THE GLOBAL ECONOMIC CRISIS"

False Profits breaks down the 2008 global economic crisis and its impact on the working class in South Africa and the responses by trade unions, government and big business

It includes interviews with leading trade unionists, workers, community members, NGOs and academics. It also poses serious questions about the government’s responses to the crisis that constantly impacts negatively on the working class and the world's poor.

In doing so numerous progressive, people-centred alternatives are put forward to address the economic crisis. These alternatives are hardly ever given a voice in the mainstream media.

10 years after the crash, this film is ideal to assist us in discussing and responding to the greatest threat to humanity now and in future, the global crisis of capitalism. What have we learnt? What has changed? What can we do to avoid another crash?
