March 31, 2016 - Book launch/forum: The BRICS: An Anti-Capitalist Critique When: Thursday March 31st, 7pm Where: Beit Zatoun, 612 Markham St., Toronto The relative economic decline of the United States, Europe and Japan is often linked to the rise of an 'emerging' bloc comprising Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa demanding 'a seat at the table'. Yet as many of the world's leading left thinkers demonstrate in this important new book, the BRICS seem to be not so much overturning the tables of global capitalism, but as collaborating in holding them up. The book's co-editors Patrick Bond from South Africa and Ana Garcia from Brazil will be joined by the two Toronto authors of chapters in the book in discussing how to understand where the BRICS fit on the most crucial global issues ranging from world finance to climate change.
