Topic
This webinar tackles a question that many environmentalists fail to answer. Bruce Baigrie explores how the environment, despite its protections and despite its value to humanity, continues to be systematically destroyed. He will focus on the reasons why this is happening and how it has become difficult to stop. Bruce engages this question by looking at the current economic system and how capitalism has influenced and perpetuated the current crisis. He challenges a move from capitalism to halt the ecological and climate crises.

Speaker Bio
Bruce Baigrie works as an organiser and researcher for the Alternatives to Climate Change and Extractivism Programme at the Alternative Information and Development Centre (AIDC). He primarily works on the issues of climate justice and energy democracy, with a current and particular focus on Eskom.
