Topic: In November 2021, the protest of the Indian farmers against the three farm laws passed by the Government of India in June 2020 will complete one year. What are the so-called ‘Farm law’ about and why are Indian farmers opposed to them? D’Souza’s talk will analyse the three farm laws and analyse the far-reaching impact it will have on the agrarian sector in India and the ways in which the farmers’ protests are changing the political landscape in the country.

Speaker Bio:
Radha D'Souza B.A (Philosophy, University of Mumbai), LLB (University of Mumbai) and PhD (Geography and Law, University of Auckland). Radha practiced as a barrister in the High Court of Bombay and taught at the Universities of Auckland and Waikato in New Zealand before coming to University of Westminster. Radha is a writer, critic and commentator on Third World issues and a social justice activist.
