Topic: In this webinar, Natasha explores the pivotal role of women in activism, shedding light on their invaluable contributions to creating positive change. She emphasizes the empowering role of the law as a tool to promote social justice for everyone in society. Natasha delves into a thoughtful discussion of social justice movements, with a particular focus on South Africa, where she foregrounds the significant role of women within these movements. Throughout the seminar, the historical continuum of women's involvement in activism, spanning from the 19th century to the 21st century, takes centre stage. This webinar will give a deeper understanding of the critical and enduring impact of women in shaping the course of activism over time, inspiring a more just and equitable world for all.
Speaker Bios:

Natasha Wagiet is a Pro Bono Manager overseeing ENSafrica’s CSI portfolio at Mitchells Plain, Khayelitsha Township in Cape Town and Alexandra Township in Johannesburg. Her experience includes working with vulnerable individuals and groups, impact litigation experience as well as training and advocacy. Natasha also has experience liaising with various stakeholders from both government and civil society, conflict resolution and legal administration. Natasha furthermore has an interest in employment law, and she has completed a course focused on employment law through UCT GetSmarter. Furthermore, Natasha believes that training in development is an integral component of pro bono and thus she has successfully completed a course focused on training and development through UCT GetSmarter. As ENSafrica’s Mitchells Plain pro bono manager, Natasha is responsible for managing the firm’s pro bono and CSI programme. Natasha has a particular interest in the pursuit of access to justice for all, matters involving socio- economic rights issues, as well as the foregrounding of the social aspect of ESG.
