Speaker: Mzamo Zondi
Date: Wednesday 31 July 2019
Time: 13:00-14:00
Venue: CCS Seminar Room A726, Level 7, Shepstone, Howard College, UKZN
Topic:
A key concern for social movements and activists is the risk of co-optation or being ‘captured’ by powerful elites including the state. The co-optation of movement activists and leaders often serves to undermine movements impacting their ability to effect social change. This seminar is a focus on co-opted activists questioning how their new positioning transforms their notions of social change and considering their altered relationships with the movement and movement activists.
