Nduduzo Majozi
Nduduzo Majozi is a Researcher at the Centre for Civil Society and is currently working towards completing his Masters in Development Studies at UKZN.Ndu’s project focuses on the Cato Crest area, situated in Cato Manor, Durban which consists of both formal RDP houses and informal shack settlements existing beside each other. The majority of people live in inhumane conditions without access to basic services. Ndu’s research aims to explore the effects of housing systems, formal and informal, on people’s personal and social relations in Cato Crest communities. His passion for this project comes from his personal experiences. He comes from Mkhambathini village, a place where ‘casualties’ are common and accepted. In Cato Manor, he notes how this area is surrounded by prosperous areas, but continues to find itself in a constant struggle for basic services. His focus is understanding service delivery and its challenges in Cato Crest with respect to housing.
